Personal Care Assistant/Residential Youth and Family Specialist

In addition to teaching self-help and basic living skills, a P.C.A./Residential Youth and Family Specialist assists clients with personal hygiene and daily living needs and helps clients achieve all of the competencies necessary to manage life events successfully. This will often include the development and use of coping strategies needed to manage emotional dysregulation as well as the use of crisis management strategies. She or he works closely with families and with other treatment team members in pursuit of these competencies.

P.C.A. Training/Certification and a high school diploma or G.E.D. required. Must complete the State of Maine Department of DHHS on-line standardized training to work as a P.C.A. Prior experience and training in positions similar to that of the P.C.A./Residential Youth and Family Specialist or with children and their families faced with emotional and behavioral challenges.  Basic computer skills are required.
