Spurwink Services seeks a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to provide serviceswithin our special education day treatment program in Chelsea. This position offers a diverse professional experience providing treatment for children and youth with behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities, ages 5-20. This is an excellent opportunity to gain additional experience working with youth with moderate to significant disabilities. The position is supervised by an on-site, highly experienced SLP. Spurwink provides special education programming for students based on an academic year, as well as a seven-week summer component.
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant assesses and treats disorders of speech, language, voice, fluency and dysphagia, performs behavior management and therapeutic duties in accordance with the client's ISP/IEP, and assures a weekly hearing aid check for all hearing-impaired clients. Our new SLPA assists in the consultation to clinical and educational staff concerning program needs, and may transport clients.
Applicants for the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant position must have an associate's degree in an SLPA program or a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders and Maine SLPA licensing. Experience with individuals with behavioral needs preferred.
