As we launch our newly re-modeled and designed 12 –bed facility on the Portland/Westbrook line we are looking to build the team that will make the difference. This position requires staff to work from 11pm-9am, they must remain awake for that entire time and serve the needs of the clients.
The starting wage for a Direct Care Worker (Residential Youth and Family Specialist) will range up to $13 per hour, with a full array of benefits. Shifts have been designed to accommodate and recognize the importance of a good work/life balance.
Develop relationships with clients who have emotional and behavioral disorders. Maintain safe and therapeutic environment and routines. Plan and lead group and individual activities aimed at helping clients achieve skills, creating opportunities for clients to succeed. Perform behavior management, therapeutic duties and crisis intervention, including restraints. Participate in reflective practice and supervision. Contribute to the management of the residence.
Awake Night Staff are responsible for maintaining the health and safety of the adolescents while attending to their needs throughout the night. Awake night staff assist the clients with their morning routine which may include hygiene, medication administration and preparation for the school day.
High school diploma or G.E.D. Prior experience and training in positions similar to that of the Residential Youth and Family Specialist or with children and their families faced with emotional and behavioral challenges. Direct Care Workers (Residential Youth and Family Specialist) must complete OQMHP licensure requirements within the first few months of employment, and must maintain it throughout his or her employment at Spurwink in this role. It is required that she / he will participate in designated in-service training programs and ongoing training is required. Basic computer skills are required.
