Occupational Therapist - Cornville

This position is open to and welcoming applications from both COTAs and OTRs. Spurwink’s Cornville day treatment program is looking for an Occupational Therapy Provider to join the educational team. This is a unique opportunity to work with children elementary-aged through middle school-aged and a variety of diagnosis. The Occupational Therapy Provider’s primary responsibility is to implement client-focused, trauma informed, meaningful and purposeful treatment developed from screenings and evaluations to assist students in accessing their education. The Occupational Therapy Provider will be expected to maintain and carry out quarterly reports, Individualized Education Program (IEP) quarterly grading, Annual and Triennial reports/feedback and weekly team meetings.




OTRs will be expected to participate in supervision with Spurwink’s OT Coordinator, Director/Assistant Director of Education and/or Program Director. COTA’s will be expected to be an active participant in the OTR/COTA team along with supervisions with Director/Assistant Director of Education, Program director and OT Coordinator. Spurwink OTs are active members in program educational and residential teams (when applicable) along with the Occupational Therapy team.




This is a full time position.




• Utilize screenings and evaluations to determine, create and implement treatment plans to maximize the potential for increasing a student’s ability to access learning within the learning environment.


• Actively collaborate with appropriate team members on the Day Treatment, Residential and OT teams.


• Provide required documentation in a timely and ethical manner. Documentation will include: daily progress notes, Quarterly Reports, IEP related documentation, etc.


• Communicate with treatment team, supervisors, parents/guardians, students to develop purposeful and meaningful treatment to target skill deficits and adapt/accommodate activities given the student’s mental and physical status at any given time.


• Follow and adhere to agency policies, procedures, standards and expectations.


• Follow and adhere to AOTA and NBCOT policies, procedures, standards and expectations.


• Prepare and present any in-service material, trainings and/or consultation with educational, residential, administrative and/or OT teams when applicable.


• Travel to other day treatment programs (Augusta, Lewiston, Portland) is required of this position for monthly OT meetings, trainings and other in-services.


• Participate in mentorship with Spurwink Occupational Therapist. Time, location, agenda will be determined after hire and with mentor.



• Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from accredited Occupational Therapy
• Current State of Maine Licensure
• Current certification of National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
• 2+ years of pediatric and/or mental health experience in the field of occupational
therapy preferred but not required.
