A Family for ME Recruiter is responsible for raising awareness regarding the need for foster/adoptive parents in northern Maine. He/She will perform community outreach using a variety of methods to find, engage and support prospective foster parents in the process of becoming licensed. He/She will be a part of a team of recruiters who serve the program statewide. The candidate selected will cover eastern and northern Maine, and travel to a variety of communities in Washington, Hancock and Aroostook counties. This position is well-suited to outgoing individuals who would enjoy engaging prospective foster parents and volunteers using both new and established recruitment strategies. Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
*1.Recruit resource families within the confines of the DHHS contract.
*2.Explore and implement new and creative marketing to attract qualified candidates.
*3.Meet contracted and program recruitment goals.
*4.Accurately track and report marketing efforts and results; analyzing outcomes to guide future marketing and planning decisions.
*5.Home and target recruitment efforts to focus on identified populations, maintaining sensitivity to customer needs and sensitivity and respect of vulnerable populations.
*6. Be the primary point of contact and representative at recruiting and community events.
7.Coordinate details of recruitment events.
8.Facilitate prospective families’ participation in DHHS informational meetings.
9.Attain and maintain understanding of child protective and foster care practices and regulations.
10.Participate and facilitate monthly meetings and updates with DHHS district staff.
11.Partner with resource parents, volunteers, DHHS and others to recruit targeted populations.
*12. Communicate regularly with Program Supervisor, including participation in regular supervision.
*13.Maintain the confidentiality of all foster parents and clients.
*14.Maintain a current Maine driver's license and a clean driving record as outlined in Spurwink's Driving Policy.
15.Other assignments appropriate to the position as determined by the Program Supervisor or Director, or his/her designee.
Education and Experience Required: Must have experience understanding and presenting detailed information to others, as well as public speaking and customer service experience. Associates degree strongly encouraged and Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in social services, community organizing, marketing, sales and/or personal experience as a foster parent required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Necessary: Must have excellent customer service and communication skills, creativity, professionalism; be perceptive and able to relate well to individuals within varying socioeconomic and cultural groups. This position requires considerable driving and flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
