Insurance Verification Specialist

Full-Time Accounts Receivable position responsible for all aspects of insurance benefit verification and authorizations for clients.
Contact insurance Providers to gather health benefit information for new/scheduled clients within Agency timeframe. Determines coverage status based on network participation. Works directly with programs to ensure eligibility information is accurate for requested services. Submit electronic HIPPAA reverification transactions. Provide direct support to programs regarding authorization and utilization activities. Submit registration and authorization requests to APS. Provide direction and support for 3rd party authorization requiring clinical information. Assist with follow up on past due or denied accounts, when needed. Maintain AR files. Other duties as assigned.
HS diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred. Prior experience with Medicare, Mainecare and other third party payers, specifically with authorizations, insurance verifications and medical billing procedures. Successful candidate will have knowledge of insurance terminology, types of policies and insurance industry rules and standards. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively is a must, as are excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills (most requests are time sensitive.) Candidate must possess a willingness to work in a team oriented envioroment, be attentive to detail and possess patience when dealing with clients, family members, insurance providers and clinical/billing staff. Experience with personal computer spreadhseets database packages, including Excell, Word and navigating insurance websites is also required.
