Spurwink is seeking candidates for the open Associate Program Director of Education position in the quiet country setting of Cornville, just outside Skowhegan. This is an educational leadership position.
The Associate Program Director of Education oversees a school serving students from Kindergarten to age 20 with severe mental health presentations which include co-occurring behavioral, emotional and developmental issues. Many of these students have experienced a history of trauma, educational failure, learning difficulties and social deficits.
The Associate Program Director of Education supervises three - four teachers, their paraprofessionals, and additional service providers including SLP's and OT's. The APD-E helps develop and ensure the quality of educational programming, models specialized instruction, development of therapeutic relationships, and integrates effective behavior intervention supports throughout the school. The position provides the unique opportunity to have a direct role in the development and implementation of an innovative curriculum that addresses the varied learning styles of all students. Extensive familiarity with IEP process and the rules and regulations of Special Education is required. Candidates must be comfortable and excel at working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Program includes a seven week summer component.
Special education (282 or 286) certificate required and Master's Degree in Special Education or related field required. 030 or 079 certification a plus.
