Unit Supervisor-Auburn

Few jobs come along that offer up the opportunity to learn and then employ state of the art treatment for youth with mental illness. The unit supervisor works as part of a treatment team made up of professionals with years of clinical experience to design and implement evidenced-based interventions. The job of unit supervisor is both challenging and fun simultaneously. This position is best suited for individuals who crave a fast pace, dynamic environment.

Spurwink's Lewiston/ Auburn is looking for a full time unit supervisor for their newly remondeled and designed residential unit for adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental challenges. The position will involve engaging adolescents in community activities and developing activities within the program to foster social growth while following treatment plans developed by the interdisciplinary team.


The unit supervisor's primary functions are to mentor and develop the direct care staff; oversight of day-to-day programmatic functions; and working collaboratively with the supervisory team. Unit supervisors serve as role models for treatment interventions and provide direct, constructive feedback to staff on shift to enhance program and treatment effectiveness.

Unit supervisors work directly in the milieu, and provide direct support to clients in the treatment setting. They act as role models for their peers, while providing consistent treatment interventions. Supervisors are expected to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment while following routines. Shift supervisors will respond to crisis, and have frequent communication with parents and providers as needed.


High school diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two (2) years previous residential treatment experience in the field of behavioral health or education required. Must have proven ability to nurture, manage, and develop relationships with clients. Must have proven ability to work as a member of a treatment team and develop professional relationships with co-workers. Must have demonstrated high level of competency to perform RYFS's responsibilities and demonstrated capacity to provide on-the-job direction/training to RYFS's as needed.
