Description: | The candidate will have working knowledge of/with clients who present emotional, learning, and behavioral problems. This person will also have working knowledge of the resources available in the community. Experience in designing individualized programs for multi-disabled students is preferred. Transition planning and the ability to provide clear and accurate documentation is essential to the position. |
Duties: | Typical duties include but are not limited to: In conjunction with the treatment team, provide families with information (ie. Transition Planning Checklist, Definition of Roles in the Transition Process, Transition Plan) about the transition process before the initial meeting; Develop a transition plan prior to each student's 16th birthday. Meet with team every six months to review progress with plan. Two years prior to graduation increase meetings to quarterly/monthly as recommended by the treatment team; and Update transition plans annually in conjunction with the IEP. |
Qualifications: | Maine State certification as Teacher of Exceptional Students (282) or Teacher of Students with Severe Intellectual and Associated Impairments (286) for grades 7 - 12, or eligibility for conditional certification as a special education teacher.
